Organizations that Support the Advertising & Marketing Industry



The advertising and marketing industry requires a multitude of skills, media, suppliers and thinkers. Without this cross section of talent the industry would not survive. Each of these sub-sections has its own organization of support that provides standards, direction and training. These organizations are critical to the business and need the support of individuals practicing their trade.
Following is a list of 20 professional organizations, each with a niche specialty that supports the industry. For anyone in advertising and marketing, it is in your best interest to get involved and support the organization that best suits your needs. Your involvement will not only give back to the industry but also vastly improve your skills.

Colorado American Marketing Association (CoAMA)

Business Marketing Association (BMA)
Interested in business-to-business marketing, advertising, or communications? BMA Colorado is for you. We are the premier professional development organization providing B-to-B education, networking, resources, and B2B job listings.
At the Colorado Chapter of the Business Marketing Association, you will network with marketing communication VPs, directors, and managers from local companies. You’ll also meet account executives, advertising managers, and creative directors working at agencies – as well as independent business owners, consultants, writers, and designers – with whom to share ideas and resources. Most of our more-than-380 members live and work in Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs.

Ad Club Denver (ACD)
Ad Club Denver ithe newest, oldest advertising association in the country.  It was founded in January 2007, 115 years after the nation’s first ad club started right here in Denver.
Get Involved, Network, Make a Difference. New Denver Ad Club was initiated to elevate the Denver advertising community’s profile nationally. If you’d like to become a part of it, sign up for membership now. 
Ad2 Denver:providing networking, professional development and all around good times for ad professionals ages 32 and under.
As one of 22 local chapters of the American Advertising Federation's national Ad2 network, the Denver chapter exists to provide Denver's up and coming advertising professionals with the resources and opportunities they need to develop and enhance their careers.

Art Directors Club of Denver (ADCD)
The Art Directors Club of Denver has served the creative community of Denver and the Rocky Mountain region for over fifty years. On August 19, 1955, six people got together and founded the Art Director’s Club of Denver. It’s purpose was for members to benefit from the exchange of ideas, discuss mutual problems, and cooperate as a group in educational projects that can take much of the mystery and misery out of the buying and selling of graphic productions.

American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP)

American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA)
AIGA's mission is to advance designing as a professional craft, strategic tool and vital cultural force.
AIGA, the professional association for design, is the place design professionals turn to first to exchange ideas and information, participate in critical analysis and research and advance education and ethical practice. AIGA sets the national agenda for the role of design in its economic, social, political, cultural and creative contexts. AIGA is the oldest and largest membership association for professionals engaged in the discipline, practice and culture of designing. Founded as the American Institute of Graphic Arts in 1914 as a small, exclusive club, AIGA now represents more than 22,000 designers through national activities and local programs developed by 62 chapters and 240 student groups.

Colorado Alliance of Illustrators (CAI)
The Colorado Alliance of Illustrators (CAI) is an organization created to promote the trade of commercial illustration. CAI actions include: providing professional business roundtables; providing social events for members to network and support each other; reaching out to the graphics and business community at-large, and making it easy to find a professional illustrator in Colorado. Colorado Broadcasters Association (CBA)
Formed in 1949 as a non-profit trade organization, the Colorado Broadcasters Association (CBA) has a long history of service to broadcasters and citizens of the state.
Over the years the CBA has provided thousands of dollars for college scholarships, worked to provide public media access to the courts and fought to open public records. Among its many activities the CBA is probably best known for its annual "Awards Of Excellence," which honor broadcasters' service to their communities.
Representing broadcasters, both public and private, the association interacts with state and national officials and trade groups to further the business of broadcasting.

Colorado Press Association (CPA)
The Colorado Press Association is the Colorado trade association dedicated to the preservation, progression and modernization of the state’s newspaper industry. We are passionate about the importance of the press and the need to provide news and information across all platforms in a responsible, accurate and ethical way.
CPA engages in and otherwise promotes research in the newspapers publishing field and makes available to its members the results of such research.
CPA also encourages constantly higher standards of ethics in the newspaper profession, thereby fostering the dissemination of information vital to the public welfare.

Denver Press Club
Denver Press Club - Home to media, public relations, advertising, education and politics
We welcome you to join the Denver Press Club – the nation’s oldest continuously operating press club, which traces its first organizational meeting to 1867.
Here’s what we offer:
The opportunity to rub elbows and socialize with more than 433 members from many professions: both active and retired media, public relations, advertising, education, health care, government, law, lobbyists, students and others. You DO NOT have to be a member of the media to join the club.
A discounted rate on renting club facilities – and we rent it for everything, such as committee meetings, networking events, associations’ events, workshops, seminars, birthday parties, anniversaries, weddings, rehearsal dinners, trade fairs, holiday parties – just about anything you can think of.
We offer great events. The biggest ones include the Damon Runyon Award Banquet, Gridiron Show and Hall of Fame.

International Association of Business Communicators (IABC)
For more than a decade, IABC Colorado has served as a valuable resource to Colorado-based communicators committed to delivering strategic, integrated communications. The chapter also provides a local connection to IABC International, which boasts of 16,000 members across the globe.
  With members serving in employee communications, public relations, marketing communications, media relations and many other roles, IABC Colorado serves individuals in corporate, government and non-profit workplaces, as well as individual contractors. Broadcast Professionals of Colorado (BPC)
The Broadcast Professionals of Colorado is an organization dedicated to keeping the heritage of Colorado broadcasting alive. Professionals with 15 or more years in broadcasting or broadcast-related experience are eligible for membership in the organization.
The BPC holds a number of events open to all members featuring current and former broadcasters offering insight on the current state of the industry and historical perspectives. The organization holds an annual Broadcast Professionals Hall of Fame banquet honoring the foremost figures that shaped the industry from the 1920s through the present. A growing element of our mission is to preserve historic artifacts of Colorado’s broadcasting history through physical and digital archiving of written and oral histories, pictures, sound and video clips.

Marketing Roundtable Professionals of Colorado
Marketing Roundtable Professionals of Colorado is an organization dedicated to keeping the heritage of Colorado
For over a decade, the Marketing Roundtable at the University of Denver's Daniels College of Business has brought together industry professionals, renowned educators and well-respected marketing gurus in an open and intellectually stimulating environment to share their insight and enhance their perspective.
Through a variety of events, Marketing Roundtable members and their guests discuss and debate the latest marketing trends, research and best practices. Most events are limited in size giving members and guests unprecedented access to top marketing talent and thought leaders.  The goal: to expand minds and connections while strengthening the region's marketing industry.
Marketing Roundtable events are free for members and their guests and nonmembers may attend for a reasonable fee. All Marketing Roundtable profits are invested in student scholarships and research at Daniels.

Rocky Mountain Avid Golfers Association (RMAGA)
The 2011 season is now complete. Look for NEW information around the first part of March 2012.
This past year we played Green Gables Country Club, The Club at Pradera, Lakewood Country Club, Arrowhead Golf Club and Eisenhower Golf Club at the Air Force Academy.
For 2011, the RMAGA teamed up with FISA, El Jebel Sandblasters and the Meadow Creek Tennis Club to play some of this states finest courses. We look forward to doing this again in 2012.
With your membership in the RMAGA, you receive a USGA GHIN card, membership in the Colorado Golf Association and all of your tournament scores are entered as “T” scores in the handicap system.
Guests with handicaps will be in a guest flight for prizes and those guests without a handicap will also be in the guest flight, however they will be playing as a scratch golfer for Guest Flight prizes.

An organization formed over 26 years ago to provide a social gathering place two times per year for those who worked in the advertising, media and supplier business prior to 1984.
